Maz Makhani

Maz Makhani is a renowned cinematographer with more than 25 years of experience working in the entertainment industry. Over the cours of his career, Maz has worked on films, docuseries, TV series, numerous commercials and music videos. Most recently, Maz wrapped shooting Netflix’s highly-anticipated crime drama, Te Guilty starring Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by Antoine Fuqua.

His film credits further include lensing Fuqua’s critically-acclaimed Emmy-winning documentary What’s My Name: Muhammad Ali, the Farsi language film The Night, and Princess of the Row which won Best Cinematography at the Manchester Film Festival. Maz’s TV credits include the heavy-hitting Quibi series #FreeRayshawn which was nominated for two Emmys, and he is currently filming a new Untitled Los Angeles Lakers Docuseries for Hulu, directed by Fuqua.

Maz got his start filming music videos for major artists such as Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Britney Spears, and Jennifer Lopez. He lensed Lil Wayne and Bruno Mars’ music video for “Mirror” which won a MVPA Award for Best Cinematography; his music video for Nicki Minaj’s “Superbass” won Best Hip Hop Video at the MTV Video Music Awards; and he lensed both “White Horse” and “Love Story” for Taylor Swift, the latter of which won both two CMT Music Awards for Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year. More recently he filmed Maluma’s “Sin Contrato,” Machine Gun Kelley’s “Bloody Valentine” starring Megan Fox which won Best Alternative Music Video at the 2020 MTV VMAs, and Megan Thee Stallion's “Girls in the Hood” which won Best Hip Hop Music Video at the 2020 MTV VMAs.

Furthermore, Maz has lensed numerous commercials for brands like Porsche, Audi, Jaguar, Nissan, GMC, Cosmopolitan Hotel, Boost Mobile, and Virgin Hotels. Maz’s ability to adapt to any situation, and his intentionality with camera movement, lighting and lens choices has resulted in a multitude of diverse professional opportunities.
